The Wuling Starlight Plus, also known as the Wuling Xingguang S, is a new era dual power SUV from SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) that offers both pure electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants.
- Design and Exterior:
- The Wuling Starlight Plus features a modern design with a length of 4745mm, width of 1890mm, and height of 1680mm, sitting on a wheelbase of 2800mm. It adopts a five-seater layout and is positioned as a medium-sized SUV based on the Tianyu D platform.
- The front of the vehicle boasts a narrow split light group with a “7” shape, echoed by the same design at the rear with LED taillights. The vehicle is available in four exterior colors: Star White, Interstellar Blue, Star Gray, and Star Gold.
- Interior and Features:
- Inside, the cockpit features a 15.6-inch central control screen powered by the Ling OS vehicle operating system and an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel. The vehicle also includes a flat-bottom steering wheel and retains a small number of physical buttons for essential controls.
- The seats are wrapped in leather material, and all trims come standard with a 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat. Front-seat heating/ventilation and rear-seat heating are optional. The rear seats support a maximum tilt angle of 127°.
- Performance and Powertrain:
- The PHEV variant is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine that outputs 78 kW (105 hp) and a 150 kW/310 Nm electric motor, mated to an E-CVT. Two different battery pack options are offered: 9.5 kWh and 20.5 kWh, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 60 km and 130 km, respectively. The fuel tank capacity is 53 L, and the top speed is 170 km/h.
- The EV variant features a 150 kW (201 hp)/310 Nm front electric motor and a 60 kWh Shenlian 2C (lithium iron phosphate type) battery pack, providing a CLTC cruising range of 510 km. Under 2C fast charging, Wuling claimed that charging for 15 minutes can increase the range by 200 km.
- Safety and Assistance:
- The Starlight Plus comes with level 2 advanced driving assistance capabilities, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and full-speed adaptive cruise control.
- attery and Charging:
- The BEV version’s 510 km range model has a 41.9 kWh battery, while the 410 km range model has a 54.5 kWh battery. Fast charging allows for an additional 200 km of range in just 15 minutes for the 510 km model and about 20 minutes for the 410 km model.
- Market Positioning:
- The Wuling Starlight Plus is positioned as a spacious family SUV and is expected to compete in the new energy vehicle market with its dual power systems, ample space, and various features.
